Chance
Rescue Date: March 8th, 2023
Chance was injured in a tornado in the Birchwood, TN area in March of 2023. The coming days after the tornado his Owner’s posted him for sale with an injured leg from being thrown by the tornado. His Owner’s said they couldn’t afford to have him seen by the vet because all of their funds were going to rebuild their event venue ran from their farm that was damaged, including the money from selling Chance.
This was very upsetting to us here at BAFR and we do not agree with buying horses from owners who in cases like this should surrender them so they can receive the care they need, but unfortunately greed took over his owner’s, and they wanted money off him to rebuild their venue whether he was injured or not. Due to Chance being injured, we couldn’t ignore the need for him to get vetting as soon as possible so we jumped on a fundraiser and were able to raise an amount the owners agreed upon with BAFR. Chance was one lucky boy because we were lucky enough to find an adopter who happened to live down the road willing to split the purchase price for Chance and who was ready and willing to get Chance the vetting he desperately needed.
Chance was very lucky and didn’t have serious injuries, especially for a senior horse! He is now living his best retired life with his adopters who happen to have another senior horse for him as a pasture companion. Chance, who is now known as Buster will never have to worry about getting the care he needs. Happy Retirement Buster!
