Spartan’s Storm
Rescue Date: January 16th, 2021
Spartan was at a boarding farm in North Georgia where he was abandoned for three years by his owner. The Boarding Barn Owner had been caring for him the best they could until they heard from a boarder about our recent loss of one of our personal horses leaving our other one alone who was not handling it well. They offered to let Spartan come here to live.
Spartan is one of our personal horses, but his story is still important to share. Horses are abandoned on properties, at boarding farms, and even set loose to live in the “wild” all too often.
Spartan was said to be 14 years old, but after having him seen by our vet, he was aged from his teeth to be much older and in his early twenties. He also has an old injury with one of his front legs having a bowed tendon. This does not affect his mobility at all but does mean if he is ridden it must be light riding per our vet’s recommendation. He also has a condition known as Sweet Itch.
Spartan has his forever home with us, and due to his age and medical conditions we have chosen to let him live the retired life from being ridden. He does love to do tricks and would love to show you them if you are ever visiting the farm.
