Dante’s Chance

Rescue Date: August 22nd, 2021

Dante was rescued from the Fountain Hill Kill Pen in Arkansas. He was scheduled to ship in 8 hours prior to us saving him. He had already been put on the scale for weight and marked with spray paint in preparation of them shipping him to slaughter.

Dante was listed as a 13-year-old but was aged by our vet at his intake examination to be in his mid-twenties, which was also confirmed a few months later when we were able to locate his first owner, not the one who sold him at Auction to the kill buyers.

The reason he was sold at auction was because he has arthritis and could no longer work cows on the ranch he came from.

Dante is now an ambassador on the farm. We use him for educational purposes with the occasional pony ride for kids and grooming sessions for those needing the therapeutic benefits of a horse. Dante loves kids and treats, although I think he loves treats more!

Dante is happy and living his best life at the age of 28 now!
