2nd MagnaWave Session with Amy. He was able to stand on his own for this one which was a huge improvement.

Panda

Rescue Date: December 23rd, 2025

Panda was rescued from the TN Ship Pen in Cleveland, TN. They had him for a month and admitted that he was lame, but never had a vet come see him and since he “didn’t get better” they put him on the direct ship list.

With it being so close to Christmas, we were afraid we would not be able to fundraise in time to save him, but our followers showed up and showed out! Not only were we able to raise his bail fee, but we were able to raise extra funds to help with his initial vetting.

Panda was picked up two days before Christmas and was taken straight to our vet. Sadly, the worst news was found. Panda had a condition known as “Side-Winders Syndrome” that was likely caused by EPM. Unfortunately, this is a neurological issue and there is no cure available for it.

On top of this medical condition, he was also found to have a severe abscess from a rock deep in his rear hoof. Panda was also aged from his teeth to be in his 20s, while he was listed as a 16-year-old at the pen.

We chose to try an treat Panda’s condition to at least give him as much time as possible to live a comfortable and loved life. We knew it wasn’t curable, but if we could keep him safe, comfortable, and happy for a few months where he could experience love and care it would be worth it.

Panda’s care was not cheap and really took a toll on us financially, but he was able to live a happy four months here on the farm. On his good days, we were able to witness him walking, running, and laying down like a normal horse. He loved treats and Slim was his best friend. We called him our Christmas Miracle Rescue. He was the sweetest boy.

Sadly, we started noticing a decline in his health from his Side-Winders Syndrome and even with the change in supplements and medications, we were unable to get him back to a safe and comfortable health and had to make the hard decision to let him go peacefully.

We will never regret putting all the time, effort, and money into Panda or his care, and would do it again in a heartbeat. We only wish we could have found him sooner so we could have caught his condition in the earlier stages so he could have been given more time.

We also want to give a special thank you to Amy with Charleston Equestrian for donating two sessions of MagnaWave to Panda all while trying to pack and move her business. A big thank you to Phillip with Choo-Choo Rooter who donated his time in helping us lay Panda to rest. Thank you to Dr. White with Crossroads Equine Veterinary Services for helping with Panda’s vetting care from day one to helping us let him go with peace and dignity and Tim Weaver for helping with his hoof care needs.

Rest in Peace

Panda with his best friend, Slim.

Slim helped Panda so much on his bad days, he was definitely his Guardian Angel in disguise.

Panda & Slim grazing while their new run-in shelter was being built. I am pretty sure this was his best day when it came to walking/standing the straightest.

The last photo I have of Panda before we had to let him go peacefully. Panda was set free from Side-Winder’s and laid to rest on April 25th, 2026

Forever in our Hearts. Panda touched so many lives in the four months we were blessed to have him with us. Run free sweet boy.
