Mr. Wilson

Rescue Date: June 30th, 2013

Mr. Wilson came to us as an abuse case that we took in after we met him when looking to buy our second personal horse. He was with a local horse trader/flipper who told us if we didn’t buy him, they were going to “shoot him, that he wasn’t worth more than the lead to get rid of him”.

We instantly knew we had to save him. He was scared, 300 pounds underweight, covered in cuts from where they admitted to us that they beat him daily for not coming to his name, and his hooves were extremely overgrown. Mr. Wilson was a dangerous horse when we first brought him home, not because he was aggressive, but because he was in survival mode and scared of everything and everyone around him, but we knew there was more to his story and he needed a second chance made for him, that he was worth saving. I had only owned my first horse for six months, but we knew we had to be his voice, so my husband & I started our journey with him.

That leads us to current, Mr. Wilson has lived with us for over 12 years now. We have ridden him at a few local trails, through deep water, in Christmas Parades, in local fun shows, and he was even in our wedding!! Mr. Wilson has taught us everything we know when it comes to rehabilitating broken and abused horses. We are happy to admit he is the true CEO of Boogie Along Farm & Rescue, LLC. After all, he is how we came up with the name of the rescue from his nickname of “Boogs” and the fact when he was younger, he loved to “Boogie” across an open field or in the arena.
